A splash of rainwater in a cracked glass jar,
Taken from the mantelpiece in secret;
Katie’s new craft glitter,
Left out all night to soak up the moon light;
A nursery rhyme to sing
And a few special words to be murmured.
Then, when all is ready and done,
They will escape;
Escape from a world where people die,
Where people cry;
Escape to a world where the only tears are tears of joy,
And the only things that die are sorrow and sadness;
To live among magic, to be brave and safe;
To meet danger and say “Try your worst.”
To smile and laugh and be loved;
To escape.
